Weird Binaries Under Close Surveillance: TU Tau and HD 5501, Chris Corbally, SJ, PhD, Vatican Observatory
Binary star systems obviously display different behavior across the population, but these two are "really weird" and also different from one another.
Corbally is a Jesuit priest and an astronomer with the Vatican Observatory Research Group, for which he has served as Vice Director, and liaison to its headquarters at Castel Gandolfo, Italy. He is an Adjunct Associate Astronomer at the Department of Astronomy, University of Arizona. He earned his doctorate in Astronomy at the University of Toronto in 1983, and his research interests include stellar spectral classification, multiple star systems, peculiar and metal-weak stars especially those with lambda Boötis characteristics, activity in solar-type stars, galactic structure and star formation regions, and telescope technology.
